McLanahan’s UltraSAND Plants (USPs) combine a sump, pump, hydrocyclones, and dewatering screens into an integrated processing system. The plant is typically fed with <4 mesh (<5mm) material from the bottom deck of a wash screen, with the feed material generally containing ≥35% solids by weight. Alternatively, the system can also receive material from a dry screen through a slurry box where high-pressure sprays are used to hydrate the feed material.
By utilising the superior separation efficiency of Hydrocyclones/Separatorsâ„¢, UltraSAND Plants consistently achieve higher product recovery rates compared to traditional fine material screw washers. The integrated dewatering screen also produces a significantly drier final product, depending on the characteristics of the processed sand.
The result is a cleaner, more consistent sand product that can often be used almost immediately after processing. Additional benefits include steeper stockpile angles for increased stockpile capacity, reduced water loss, improved housekeeping, and enhanced sand equivalency performance.
